This video is about Collecting Leaves for the Future Homestead.
There is an unending supplies of leaves this time of year. The best part is that people package them up and leave them on the side of the road for you to come pickup.
These leaves can be used for thousands of things around the homestead. We are focusing on one project with multiple functions. The number one reason we are collecting leaves is to cover the East Texas red clay and keep it from being tracked into the house.
At the same time, the leaves will be used as a mulch layer that covers the ground and encourages earthworms to come visit. when they do, they bring worm poop (castings) as well as create tunnels in the clay. all of this is good for the soil.
In addition, once the leaves breakdown, they will begin to build topsoil over the clay. There’s literally no reason not to use this free resources.
If you love good food for less, keep reading! One would be hard pressed to find a better deal on food than the rotisserie chickens from Sam’s club. While these are not organic free range chickens that have been given personal care, they provide a lot of meat for around $5. Just last week, we purchased […]
Fun and inexpensive christmas tree craft using paint chips As we entered this holiday season, I wanted Buddy to enjoy hanging Christmas ornaments on our Christmas tree! To do this I thought what better way than to have him make his own ornament and most of the supplies were free! We went to our local Lowe’s […]
I purchased this Kobalt 1-1/2 PVC Pipe Cutter on the recommendation of the Lowe’s sales person.
After the second cut, I could see slight damage to the PVC cutter blade. None of the cuts were what I consider to be good cuts. The 4th cut, in the video above, actually broke the blade in two places and shattered the PVC pipe instead of cutting it.
I give these Cobalt PVC cutters 1 out of 5 stars and will be taking them back to Lowe’s in the morning for a full refund.
Take a look at the video below and watch the Kobalt pipe cutter blade break and shatter the PVC pipe.
Last Christmas, I collected quite a few Amazon.com gift cards from friends and family. In years past, this would cause a dilemma due to having so many options. Not this year! I knew exactly what I wanted. I had become quite a fan of the Wranglerstar channel on YouTube and really enjoyed his videos on timber […]
After polishing off the last of the Thanksgiving leftovers, I want to tell you about our Thanksgiving. We had initially planned to go up north to visit Jenn’s side of the family. Unfortunately, our boys got sick and we opted to forgo the 17 hour car ride due to the circumstances. We were really looking […]
We not only have 1 child with life-threatening allergies, but two. Buddy, our oldest, is deathly allergic to dairy, eggs, peanuts, and a few minor things which cause hives such as cats and tomato plants (not the tomatoes themselves, just the plants). We have also discovered that Little Dude who is 1 is also deathly […]
