The final preps before installing the meter pole

Part 1 of 3 videos on installing the electric meter pole

Now that the power company has the transformer installed on the electric pole, It’s time to get our meter pole in the ground. Honestly, it should have been done before the transformer went up. Things don’t always go the way I’d like them to but they work out in the end.

The first item on the list was to cut down a tree standing in-between the transformer and where the meter pole needed to go. I busted out the Stihl MS290 (Farm Boss). If you’re looking to own one chainsaw, this would be my choice. It’s big enough to handle most jobs, but not so large (like the MS660) that it is tough to move around.

After Removing the tree, I started to dig the hole for the meter pole to sit in. Although the soil is much softer in this location than most other parts of the property, It was a difficult dig because it kept filling with water. Jenn and the boys came out before I finished digging the hole and by the time they left it was too wet to dig in. I worked on some other stuff and planned to finish the hole the next morning.
