Cloth Diapers easier than you think!
I never thought I would use cloth diapers
When I first thought of using cloth diapers, I was very hesitate because I didn’t understand how to use them or how budget friendly they are! I have used them for several months now and love them! They are easy to use, clean, and have saved me close to $200 a month!
I did my research, searched several websites and brands and finally found a good deal! I spent a total of $150 on 16 cloth diapers with 2 inserts each, 12 extra thick inserts, and wash cloths (which I use as wipes for only wet diapers, for poopy diapers I use my DIY Wipes). I have two different brands of cloth diapers. I have 6 Alva, and 10 Happy Flute which I found on Amazon. I haven’t had any problems at all, not even one, of them leaking! I use the extra thick inserts for nap times. I also still use disposable diapers at night because they’re easier to change in the dark.
I got some super cute designs and some nuetral colors. I bought all pocket style, one size fits all. I usually stuff 2 inserts into each diaper cover. I tried placing the inserts in the covers thinking I could use the covers over, but the inserts bunched up or started coming out the back or front whenever Little Dude crawled around. So, I ended up stuffing them and they work great!
How I clean cloth diapers
- I wash diapers every two days. If the diaper has poop in it, I flush poop down the toilet or spray it right after I change Little Dude then throw it in the dirty diaper bag to get washed.
- I place them in the washer and soak them in cold water with 1/2 cup vinegar.
- Then do a prewash cycle.
- Next, I put in 1/3 cup of my DIY Laundry Detergent and turn to wash Hot, rinse Cold.
- After they have been washed, I dry them in the dryer on low delicate cycle.
I haven’t had any problems with the peeling of the lining or trouble with them falling apart!
Cloth diapering is awesome and I highly encourage you to try them! You don’t have to buy tons and it does cost a little up front, but in the long run you definitely save money by using cloth diapers! I hope this has been helpful for those of you who have thought about using cloth diapers or who plan to use them in the future!
