You may have already seen my post It’s Pumpkin Time! A Fun Pumpkin Craft for Young Children, but since it’s the week of Halloween, I figured I’d post another easy pumpkin activity. If you’re looking for a way to entertain your child and keeps them engaged, this is right for you! Buddy worked on switching the faces for at least 30 minutes! During the activity, we also discussed the shapes he was using and what kind of face he was making, such as happy, sad, silly, etc.
Preparation for the pumpkin activity:
- Cut two pumpkin shapes out of orange construction paper
- Cut triangles, circles, ovals, smiles, frowns, etc. out of black construction paper
Pumpkin activity directions:
- Give all the supplies you just made to your child and watch them use their creativity as they create jack-o-lanterns!
- Show them examples of jack-o-lanterns. We looked at the book It’s Pumpkin Time! but you could use anything.
- Have fun!
